Grand contribution to the arts

Lakes District Arts Council vice-president Wayne Brown presents a $1,000 scholarship cheque to Emma Moore, graduate of Lakes District Secondary School, class of 2019. Emma is attending art school in Edmonton this fall. Ootsa Lake Fishing Derby winners

A total of 196 anglers cast their rods at the Ootsa Lake Fishing Derby on Aug. 30-Sept. 2, hosted by the Tweedsmuir Recreation Commission. Elijah Hetu reeled in the first place prize with his fish that weighed 9.42 lbs, coming in second place was Ken Funk with a 8.2 lb fish, Troy Stringer in third with 8.04 lbs, Stacey Hainstock came fourth with 7.94 lbs, and Dave Peterson won the trip to Big Eutsuk. Gearing up for the 55+ Games

A group of participants in the upcoming 55+ BC Games gathered in Spirit Square on Sept. 4 and received a cheque for $350 from the ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake Community Forest. The funds will help support them at the sporting event in Kelowna on Sept. 10-14. Marmon Financial Management also helped fund a tent and other accessories to give shelter to track & field athletes at the Games.
