Rocking a new dock

Workers unload and install a new dock at Southbank on Francois Lake on June 17. Cheslatta Carrier Nation has helped finance the Southbank dock since 2004 and it was replaced with the new one last week. It is the only public dock on the southside of the lake. The dock was built with old boom sticks - used when towing logs with a tugboat - and hauled to Francois Lake from Ootsa Lake. (Submitted photos)

Library gets new art

Library gets new art

Lakes District Secondary School art students stand with their salmon-themed masterpiece, in the ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake Public Library, on June 11. Students from the block 1 – Art 11/12 class made the portrait using glass and stones. The work is the result of the creativity and efforts of teacher Steve Wilejto and students Kiara Alec, Nathan Clayton, Clay Murray, Jeffrey Robinson, Rivey Sackney, Logan Thompson, Micah Watson, Jasmin Stiffler, Brock West, Shelby Woskett and Sam Shelford.

RedRover talks animal care

RedRover talks animal care

Nicole Forsyth, Executive Director of RedRover, spoke in the ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake Public Library on May 28 about the animal rescue organization’s programs aimed at helping animals and families. Volunteers with the Sacramento-based organization help provide care for animals - including veterinary care - and support for families. It also deploys personnel to help animals in disaster situations, such as the wildfires in California last year.
