The Cold Smoke Drags kick things off on Feb. 8.

Winter Is Here. The ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake Snowmobile Club (BLSC) has some exciting things happening this season. Dates for 2025 events have been set to mark on your calendars. The club is excited to bring back the Cold Smoke Drags on Feb. 8 and Snowmobile Poker Ride March 1.

Planning even further ahead, the ATV Poker Rides will be held May 31 and Sept. 13.

The BLSC has been working hard on growing our infrastructure and events. The trail from the BLSC Motorsports Park at 7485 Babine Lake Road has a new trail extension under construction from the recently built Gazebo at Nellian Lake East to Pinkut Lake.

Recent work includes clearing the right-of-way and resurfacing the trail. On this portion of the trail, you will find evidence of the historic Tie Hacker trail, mill sites and cabins used to cut ties for the railway. Although it is still under construction and waiting for approval for a bridge to be installed, we are hoping to be using it soon. More plans are under way to bring the trail back towards Pinkut and Division Lakes before connecting back into the existing trail system. The trails have been very popular for our Poker Rides. The Gazebo at Nellian Lake has had approximately 800 people sign into the guest book since January 2022. This includes visitors from Scotland, England, Africa, Cuba, Colorado, Ontario, Alberta, and communities from all over BC.

The BLSC is also looking at the possibility of offering groomed trails for our planned winter rides on our trail system depending on snow conditions.

The Motorsports Park has made some new improvements as well. Work to improve onsite camping has been ongoing and it has become a regular occurrence for participants in our rides to spend the night.

Another upgrade recently acquired with help from generous sponsors: ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake Community Forest and Chinook Community Forest is a new timing system to operate the racetrack. This property has also been rented by groups to complete safe off-road vehicle certificate training and there is a small Motorcross track on site as well.

BLSC is a non-profit group run by volunteers and a member club of the BC Snowmobile Federation. The goal is to promote and grow off-road motorized recreation. When planning the focus is to be able to offer our facilities and infrastructure to multiple user groups throughout the Lakes District. Another commitment by the club, in partnership with the Houston Snowmobile club, is the continued maintenance of the Sibola Cabins.

The club has also been involved in advocating for the off-road motorized community use of some of the local riding areas.

October is the time of the year to buy or renew club membership and we are always looking for new members and volunteers to help with hosting events or planning and maintaining infrastructure under the club management. Memberships can be purchased online by finding us on the BC Snowmobile Federation website (BCSF.org).
