June 6 morning saw the dog park busy, not with dogs and their owners, but with volunteers in work boots, holding shovels, planting trees on the side of the local dog park. However, the volunteer base was not restricted to grown-ups and kids Kieran and Danae McDonald, also helped shovel, dig and plant the trees. Apple and cherry trees were planted by as many as 22 volunteers along the sides of the park.

Gerald Eckland, a 亚洲天堂 Lake resident captured this picture of a pileated woodpecker on a quiet Thursday afternoon. The large forest bird with a red crest, white and black plumage rarely ever stays still enough to be captured on camera from a close distance. However, Eckland managed to capture the bird on his camera while the bird was busy feeding from Eckland鈥檚 bird-feeder.

Lakes Animal Friendship Society is hosting obedience training classes for dogs every Saturday throughout the summer, at the MacEwen Dog Park in 亚洲天堂 Lake. The 亚洲天堂 Lake track resurfacing project is now complete and open for public use, with the paving completed, a drain installed on the inner side and the pavement sloped towards the outer side. Last week, just before the track reopened, Randy Hamp and his family were busy leveling the grass and the ground to match the track-level. Hamp had roped in his wife Gabriela, his daughters and daughter-in-law to help out.
