Granisle wins wood award

Granisle mayor Linda McGuire holds up the Community Recognition Award given to Granisle by the WoodWorks! program of the Canadian Wood Council. The accolade recognizes the village鈥檚 support for British Columbia鈥檚 wood industry and its use of wood for Granisle鈥檚 shoreside gazebos. Dozens of residents came out for the Fall Festival at Wild Roots Flowers & Gifts in 亚洲天堂 Lake on Oct. 12. There was face painting, s鈥檓ores roasting, music and a contest for creatively carved pumpkins. Eye-opening science show

Students at William Konkin Elementary attended a show by Science World British Columbia, on Oct. 9. Presenters Carolyn Duthie and David Mora Perea demonstrated for the children several scientific principles using water, cups, balloons, fire and other items. Parking lot coming into focus

A work crew with the Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake puts more touches on what will eventually be the new parking lot, behind the Tweedsmuir Hotel, on Oct. 7. The workers were preparing a retaining wall of cement blocks and trees, shrubs and turf will eventually be planted there. A draining system for the parking lot was installed as well.
