Chester Mortensen lost his wife Sheila to breast cancer in March

The Lakes Literacy program in September expanded its book mail-out program for children to Granisle.

A ground breaking ceremony was held on Oct. 3 to mark the start of construction on the new water treatment plant at 102 Eveneshen Road in 亚洲天堂 Lake. Funding for the $4.8 million project came from federal, provincial, First Nations and local government contributions. The facility is expected to be completed in the summer of 2021.

Fall Festival at Wildroots Flowers and Gifts

The local College of New Caledonia campus held a lunch on Oct. 2 to welcome back students for the new academic year. Chili, bannock dogs and cupcakes were served. Attendees were informed about the new discount program offered for students in 亚洲天堂 Lake, which had not been running since 2013. Convincing physicians to come to 亚洲天堂 Lake has never been an easy task, and getting them to stay an even more difficult one.

The Southside Senior鈥檚 Housing Society (SSHS) hosted its Connecting Consumers and Producers Harvest Supper event on Sept. 21 in the Grassy Plains Community Hall. Local agricultural producers set up 11 displays and about 65 people attended the dinner. The entire meal was prepared with food items purchased from local producers, including vegetables and meat. Proceeds from the event will go towards the SSHS project. It was the first supper of its kind to be held by the society.
