Lino and Santina Punis of Lino鈥檚 Sales & Service were this year鈥檚 winner of the Business Excellence Awards鈥� lifetime business achievement award. Sponsored by the 亚洲天堂 Lake and District Chamber of Commerce, the awards help recognize the efforts and achievements of the local business community.

Amelia Mattson and Ryan Coltura of Pitter Patter Boutique, a home-based resale shop located in Smithers, were the winners of the 2017 RDBN start-up contest. They were awarded during the 2017 Regional Business Forum, which was held at the 亚洲天堂 Lake Band鈥檚 Gathering Place last week. They received $8750 cash plus $8100 in services and supplies. Other finalists included Happy Jacks Restaurant and Pub, Honeysuckle Farm, Just Boer鈥檇 N Dreamin and Vettopetmobile.

The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako (RDBN) and the 亚洲天堂 Lake Band were the hosts of the 2017 Regional Business Forum, an event that has been taking place across the RDBN since 2008. This year鈥檚 theme was 鈥楾he next 150: celebrating our past and imagining our future.鈥� The primary goal of the forum is to give businesses, First Nations, governments and organizations from across the region the opportunity to gather for learning and networking. 亚洲天堂 Lake council has approved a development permit to upgrade the facade of the Home Hardware building. Now that council has approved the permit, staff will issue a notification to the properties located within 30 metres. If any objection to the project is received by Aug. 25, the permit will need to be brought back to council for further review. Local company Big Dog Construction was awarded the contract.

The 亚洲天堂 Lake Community Market - a weekly market of farmers, bakers and home-based businesses selling a variety of local products at the 亚洲天堂 Lake Visitor Centre - has had increasing community support this year.
