Gift basket contest winner in ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake

Shawntee Lagimodiere took home a gift basket donated by the Lakes District Food Bank and E’Scentials Body Care after winning a contest during the Christmas craft fair. The contest involved guessing how many pounds of potatoes and carrots the food bank distributes in a year (19,200 pounds). Lagimodiere had the closest guess - 20,000 pounds. (Submitted photo)

Mikalie Culberson nabs UNBC award

Lakes District Secondary School student Mikalie Culberson was the 2017 University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) Scholar recipient. Based on the UNBC criteria, Culberson received this honour out of all of last year’s Grade 11 students with her grade point average of 95 per cent. As part of this award, she will be receiving a full four-year free tuition at UNBC in Prince George. Culberson is currently in Brazil as part of an exchange student program. (Submitted photo)

ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake’s 35th annual Christmas craft fair, sponsored by the ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake Public Library, showcased the best work of local artists and crafters last Saturday. During the well-attended event, which was held at Lakes District Secondary School, the public had a chance to take photos with Santa and a watch performance by the Tweedsmuir Fiddlers.
