A curious lynx south of ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake

Local resident Hayley Nielson has recently captured these photos of a seemingly curious lynx down Tatalrose Road on the Southside. The Canada lynx can be found in boreal forests all across Canada – from Newfoundland to the Yukon. Their range also extends into western Montana, Idaho, Washington and Utah.

Canada 150 Skating Day celebrated

On Dec. 10, the whole country came together in one of the most Canadian of ways - enjoying a true northern winter sport, skating from coast to coast to coast. Approximately 60 ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lakers enjoyed the skating party held at the Tom Forsyth Memorial Arena. Over 100 hot dogs and lots of hot chocolate and coffee were distributed. The event was sponsored by the Village of ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake and the ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake and District Chamber of Commerce.

ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake residents discuss gender-based violence

The College of New Caledonia (CNC) and the Elizabeth Fry Society have recently hosted an event to discuss gender-based violence at the CNC Lakes District campus. Approximately 25 women attended the event on Dec. 6, which is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. Guest speakers and participants shared experiences, remembered victims and discussed solutions. Community organizations working to prevent and respond to violence against women and children across B.C.
