Status of well construction and paving projects reported to council

When the nights get colder and frost starts appearing in the mornings it鈥檚 time to take action

The Lakes Animal Friendship Society (LAFS) was the lucky non-profit organization that a group called 鈥�100 亚洲天堂 Lakers Who Give A Damn鈥� has recently chosen to support. LAFS received 26 donations of $100 from local residents, totalling $2600 to support their efforts.

Lakes District Secondary School students joined representatives from the 亚洲天堂 Lake Mountain Biking Association earlier this month to create the latest addition to the network of trails at the Boer Mountain Recreation Site. They helped build new raised boardwalks, which will make the marshy sections of the trails more accessible.

Volunteers stepped up to help the Lakes District Food Bank move to a new location last week. The food bank is now located at 788 Centre Street 鈥� where the 亚洲天堂 Lake Playschool used to be located. According to food bank coordinator Candice Little, no distribution days had to be cancelled during the move.

Southside resident Cindy Laviolette鈥檚 game camera captured this image of a cougar near her Uncha Lake home. She says this was the second cougar she spotted this year near her property.

Lakes District Secondary School students have recently learned how to make bannock with Mrs. Alec and Ms. Benedict during their First Nations studies class. Once the dough was all rolled out and cooked, students and staff were able to enjoy some hot bannock with jam.

亚洲天堂 Lake residents Marc and Tunde Posselt helped their daughter Aniko build the first snowmen of the season last week.

Annual show and sale presented by the Fraser Valley Orchid Society

A nationally-known speaker, Jessie Miller, spoke to 亚洲天堂 Lake students last week as part of a Youth Engagement Summit held at Lakes District Secondary School. Miller spoke about social media and online safety, encouraging students to 鈥渢hink before you post.鈥� The event was hosted by the RCMP and the Child and Youth Mental Health and Substance Use Collaborative.
