ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake residents help clear trail

Local residents Wren Gilgan and Lyle Phillips have recently cleared 16 trees along the Red Johnson Trail (sometimes called the Ridler Trail), which commences at the partially completed ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake Provincial Park campground, about 5.5 km south of ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake on Hwy. 35.

The Lakes District Arts Council (LDAC) has recently donated $2000 to Lakes District Secondary School for the upgrading of the multipurpose room’s lights, sound and projection system. According to LDAC, the new upgrades will make the school better equipped to host performances.

ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake trails affected by windstorm

Local volunteers have worked hard to clear trails affected by a recent windstorm at the Boer Mountain and Kager Lake recreation sites. According to the ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake Mountain Biking Association, approximately 40 trees came down just on the Kager Lake trail. Armed with hand saws and chainsaws, crews have assessed each of the trails.

ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake Recycling Depot customers have contributed $915 to help Decker Lake Elementary School’s Grade 4/5 class travel to Barkerville, B.C., next spring. The Recycling Depot has added 10 per cent, for a total of $1007. The Recycling Depot will continue to accept donations for this bottles account until the spring.
