亚洲天堂 Lake鈥檚 new director of recreation, David Geronazzo, is bringing over 10 years of experience in municipal government to his new position. Although he was born and raised in Kelowna, Geronazzo and his family moved to 亚洲天堂 Lake from Saskatchewan last month.

The 亚洲天堂 Lake and District Community Foundation Society has distributed $2000 to William Konkin Elementary for new cross-country skis. Founded in 2006, the Community Foundation has distributed well over $100,000 to successful organizations throughout the Lakes District.

亚洲天堂 Lake resident Peter Guenther has successfully completed a six-week program at the Canadian Forces Base/ Area Support Unit in Wainwright, Alberta - one of the busiest army bases in Canada. A group of Korean students, who have been taking ESL classes at the College of New Caledonia (CNC) in Prince George, recently made a stop at the CNC Lakes District campus. The students were touring the region鈥檚 healthcare facilities with the goal of learning healthcare terminology in english. The majority of the students are nurses.

Civil contractors Christian Fruendt (L) and Kyle Pedersen have recently unearthed unusual objects such as moisturizing cream and nail polish while digging trenches to install new lighting at the Lakes District campus of the College of New Caledonia (CNC). According to CNC staff, a teachers鈥� residence used to be located where the contractors unearthed the items.

Corinne George, regional principal of the Lakes District campus of the College of New Caledonia, welcomes people at an open house held at the college last week. The event drew community members and visitors out of their 鈥榟oliday mode鈥� to enquire about upcoming programs. Another open house will be held at CNC on Aug. 28.
