The Lakes Animal Friendship Society (LAFS) held its tenth anniversary gratitude gala last Saturday. The generous community members who attended brought pet supplies, food and donations to help local critters. Lowry Olafson from Gibsons, B.C., entertained the crowd with humorous and heartfelt songs, including LAFS鈥� theme song. The crowd sang along to 鈥楾each my person how to love me鈥� to help close the performance on a fitting note.

Endako artist Clare Singleton walked around the fairground on Saturday sketching people, animals and activities. She was just one of the many talented local artists that participated in this year鈥檚 fall fair. Performers included the Lakes District Community Choir, Doris Munger with Trinity and Trystan, Tyree Parkin and Friends, and many others.

Local teenagers recenly had a chance to practice their art skills at a teen art camp held at the 亚洲天堂 Lake Public Library. The camp was supported in part by Lakes Literacy and the Lakes District Arts Council and its financial partners.

Lots to see and do at annual Fall Fair

An attentive audience of about 70 Lakes District residents enjoyed the chamber music concert by The Orchestra North Summer Program Academy last week at the First Mennonite Church. The academy is made up of young musicians from Canada and the U.S. who are in the early stages of professional classical music careers. Their tour of the Central Interior is an outreach of the Orchestra North summer program that takes place annually in Smithers.

The Youth Fiddlers 鈥淧ilots of the Bow,鈥� led by teacher Becky Bowerbank, entertained locals and visitors at the Lakes Artisan Centre鈥檚 parking lot last week.

B.C. Bike Ride North participants were able to unwind after a long day of cycling with live music at Kager Lake. Local talents - The Barkers and Rachelle van Zanten - ensured that bikers left 亚洲天堂 Lake with great memories.

Teen art camp
