Wayne Brown (L), owner of Process 4 circle arts Gallery, recently presented a cheque of $1000 on behalf of the Lakes District Arts Council (LDAC) to Caleb Oman, LDAC鈥檚 2017 scholarship winner. Oman will be moving to Kamloops next month to study theatre.

Local resident Maggie Sherwin works to perfect her garden bed at the 亚洲天堂 Lake Community Garden. The garden is seeing several improvements this year, including the addition of a wheelchair-accessible outhouse, a waterline extension, new beds and a brand new shed.

亚洲天堂 Lake鈥檚 summer camp participants were able to cool down at Radley Beach during last week鈥檚 heat wave. The kids had a ton of fun while swimming, kayaking and building sandcastles.

Local resident Nellie Fuller recently celebrated her 90th birthday with her family and friends in 亚洲天堂 Lake. She is seen here with her son Miles and her daughter Denise.

The 亚洲天堂 Lake Rotary Club and the 亚洲天堂 Lake and District Chamber of Commerce won a trophy for their combined float at the Aboriginal Day/Canada Day parade in the 鈥渃lubs鈥� category. Lakes District Maintenance has recently distributed the proceeds from its pie contest, which was held at the 亚洲天堂 Lake Canada Day celebration, to the Lakes District Senior Citizens Housing Association for upgrades at Carroll Cottage. The successful pie contest had 23 entrants and raised over $480.

Participants of 亚洲天堂 Lake鈥檚 鈥榖ack to the future鈥� summer camp recently enjoyed a 1980s theme party at the Lakeside Multiplex. The summer camps are being held in July and August for children between seven and 12 years old.

People are encouraged to save energy and cash this summer with the help from B.C. Hydro鈥檚 list.

This summer, university students from Austin, Texas, are cycling through 亚洲天堂 Lake on their way to Anchorage, Alaska. The students are part of the Texas 4000, an annual charity bicycle ride that raises money for cancer research. This year the cyclists have raised nearly US$700,000 as they ride over 4000 miles in 70 days. Wildfires in B.C. and poor air quality have made this year鈥檚 ride especially challenging.
